The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has suffered yet another major setback as Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing Osun Central, formally announced his resignation from the party.
In a letter dated July 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke Ejigbo, Ila Orangun, Fadeyi cited “irreconcilable differences and irreparable division” within the party, particularly at the national level, as the reason for his exit. According to him, the crisis — marred by prolonged court cases and internal factions — has made continued association untenable.
“This decision comes after extensive consultations with my political associates, family, and friends,” Fadeyi confirmed in a message from Osogbo, the state capital.
His departure follows closely on the heels of another high-profile resignation — Senator Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East — who also quit the PDP over what he described as “protracted legal battles and irreconcilable divisions” following the 2023 general elections.
Fadahunsi’s resignation letter, also dated July 12 but addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman, surfaced on social media earlier on Saturday. When contacted, he confirmed his exit with a single word: “YES.”
With two senators from the state abandoning the PDP within the same week, concerns are mounting over the stability of the party ahead of future electoral contests in Osun and beyond.
