Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has condemned the murder of twelve Kaduna indigenes in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, urging security agencies to swiftly identify and prosecute those responsible.
The victims were ambushed while heading to a wedding in Quan Pan LGA, and eleven others were injured during the attack.
In a statement issued on June 21, Governor Sani described the killings as “an act of savagery” and stressed the need for prompt justice. “We strongly condemn these brutal acts. The perpetrators must be apprehended and held accountable. Security agencies must not spare any effort in their pursuit,” he stated.
He called on Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to take decisive action to restore order and direct security forces to track down the attackers. “Now is the time for Governor Mutfwang to take charge and ensure that justice is served. I will personally oversee the investigation’s progress,” Sani vowed.
Appealing for calm among citizens, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to peace-building and cited the Kaduna Peace Model as a successful approach to conflict resolution. “The crisis in Plateau is manageable. There is no justification for attacking any Nigerian, anywhere,” he declared.
Governor Sani expressed condolences to the victims’ families and assured them of government support, including medical assistance for the injured and a relentless pursuit of justice. “We will do all we can to ease the suffering of the affected families. May the souls of our departed citizens rest in peace,” he concluded.
