Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has launched a mass membership drive in Lagos State, urging residents to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC). He accused the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party (LP) of failing the country and stated that the ADC offers a new deal for Nigerians.
During the recruitment event in Kosofe, Aregbesola called on attendees to promote the ADC and emphasized the hope and opportunity it presents for Nigeria’s future. He urged Nigerians to join the ADC and actively participate in the electoral process to ensure their votes are protected.
In response, Lagos APC Spokesman Seye Oladejo condemned Aregbesola’s remarks, calling them a betrayal of trust. He characterized Aregbesola’s comments as politically desperate and criticized his attempts to distance himself from the APC after benefiting from its platform for over two decades.
In a related development, the South-West APC announced plans to recruit over 2,000 canvassers across electoral wards in preparation for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign. Zonal Chairman Isaacs Kekemeke stated that the meeting aimed to strategize for the upcoming elections, seeking strong electoral support for Tinubu from the Southwest.
