Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on contractors managing various state projects to ensure timely completion. During an inspection of the construction of the first flyover in Benin City, a significant initiative by his administration, he expressed his satisfaction with the progress made thus far.

The Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, shared that Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s commitment to delivering concrete results rather than merely signing Memorandums of Understanding. He stated, “We are practical people, not MoUs. You can see for yourself the progress made. Building a flyover is not something you rush into, but I am confident in the contractor’s capacity and quality of work.”

While inspecting the Upper Ekenwan Road project, the governor urged contractors to expedite their efforts and work continuously to complete the projects before the rainy season. At a drainage site near the Army Barracks, he reiterated his administration’s dedication to providing well-maintained roads throughout the state, receiving cheers from local residents as he promised timely project completion.

Okpebholo remarked, “The work is progressing well, and we are doing everything possible to finish it before the rainy season to ease transportation for our people. I have instructed the contractors to work day and night to meet the deadline.”

He also highlighted the Federal Government’s interest in the state’s development, assuring residents that President Bola Tinubu is committed to supporting Edo’s transformation agenda.

“My role is not to remain in the office. I promised practical governance, and I must be on the ground to monitor our projects and ensure they meet standards and deadlines,” he added.

The governor inspected several other key projects, including roads and drainage systems, which were awarded last November, and addressed issues like gully erosion affecting local streets. Residents praised the governor for the significant progress made within his first 100 days in office.

During his visit, residents of Uteh and surrounding areas expressed their gratitude, particularly for the ongoing construction at Uteh Ekoko Road. In Oregbeni, Ikpoba Okha, locals turned out in large numbers to support the governor during his inspection of materials for the flyover project.

The day’s activities concluded with an inspection of drainage work at Obadan Junction along the Benin-Ekpoma-Auchi Road. Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality infrastructure that positively impacts the lives of Edo residents.
