The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) has urged state governors to enhance security measures in light of the upcoming festive season. This communication was confirmed in a communiqué from the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) following their recent meeting in Abuja.
The NGF, chaired by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, indicated that heightened security preparedness is necessary due to increased population movements and public gatherings during the festive period. The governors pledged to strengthen interagency coordination, protect critical infrastructure, and ensure a visible security presence in hotspots across their states.
In addition to security measures, the NGF acknowledged the winners of the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge Awards, with Yobe State emerging as the national overall winner. The governors committed to building on this progress to enhance primary health care delivery.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed 2,202 personnel throughout the territory as part of its festive season operational order. These officers will secure churches, recreational centers, major highways, and public spaces. FCT Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and safety during the celebrations, highlighting the command’s collaboration with other security agencies.
Kebbi State Police Command has also announced enhanced security measures, particularly at worship centers and markets, to deter criminal activity and ensure public safety during the holiday season.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
