The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has raised serious concerns about a potential attack on its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, planned for Sunday during the Gindiri Old Students’ Reunion Service. The party claims that the sponsors of this attack have organized thugs to disrupt the event in Gindiri town, Mangu Local Government Area.
In a statement from the state’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the APC alleges that those behind the plot are meeting in a private residence in Jos to finalize their plans. They reportedly intend to deploy three buses from each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport thugs to the reunion venue, aiming to embarrass Yilwatda and his entourage.
The party has also mentioned that thugs will be stationed at strategic locations in Gindiri, where they are expected to create a hostile atmosphere upon Yilwatda’s arrival. The APC is urging security agencies to investigate the matter promptly to prevent any breakdown of law and order, while appealing to its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding during this tense situation.
