Former presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has dismissed speculation of any discord between President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing such reports as unfounded.

Speaking on Trust TV’s programme 30 Minutes, Shehu said there is no official disagreement or tension between both men. He emphasized that Buhari remains a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and continues to stand by the party that brought him to power after three earlier failed attempts.

“For President Buhari, the APC remains his political home,” Shehu stated. “He has repeatedly expressed his gratitude to the party and his unwavering commitment to its progress.”

Reacting to growing rumours that Buhari’s political allies were uncomfortable with the current direction of the APC under Tinubu, Shehu waved off such claims as mere speculation.

“We’ve read some of these reports, but ‘disturbed’ isn’t the word I would use,” he said. “Those who understand the effort it took to form the APC back in 2014 would not be the ones to destroy it today.”

According to Shehu, the formation of the APC came through great sacrifice and collaboration among Nigeria’s opposition blocs, and its architects remain committed to sustaining its legacy rather than undermining it.

The statement comes amid recent political chatter suggesting growing cracks within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
