Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have rejected any political alliance with individuals or opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this after the governors’ meeting in Abuja, stressing that members remained committed to the party and its candidates.

The declaration comes amid moves by Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, Nyesom Wike, to expand his “Rainbow Coalition” ahead of the 2027 elections. Wike has said the coalition is providing a platform for politicians seeking to challenge some APC candidates.

Wike had also alleged that Uzodimma and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq were behind some of the political challenges facing him as the coalition expands its influence.

However, the APC governors said they would not support any political arrangement capable of weakening the party or creating divided loyalty among its members.

Reading the communique, Uzodimma said the governors would support only candidates officially sponsored by the APC, including President Bola Tinubu’s expected bid for re-election.

He said the governors’ campaign commitment would remain exclusively with APC candidates at all levels, adding that the party’s campaign structure would align with Tinubu’s expectations and the strategic objectives of the APC.
